In the 1980s Gemballa created the Avalanche based on the Porsche 911/930 (Turbo 911 slant nose) and the Cyrrus (convertible) as well as the Mirage that was similar to the Avalanche. The cars were unique with large wide body kits, side strakes (similar to a Ferrari Testarossa), upgraded wheels, interiors, gauges, paint, Hi-Fi audio systems, etc. Some vehicles even used cameras instead of mirrors, technology far ahead of its time. Audio company Pioneer used Gemballa vehicles in their advertisements and brochures for several years. The prices for these vehicles were often mentioned as being incredibly expensive for the time period at US $250K-$375K+. Robert Van Winkle, also known as Vanilla Ice, was a famous owner of Gemballa Porsches, a man known for his somewhat ostentatious personal style, and for his love of fast cars and motorcycles. He referenced his song “Get Loose” with the line “Of course a Vanilla rides the groove like a Gemballa Porsche”
We are very excited to offer a very low mileage, pristine Classic Porsche Gemballa Cyrrus. One of only 8 examples built over a 10 year period having been produced in 1986. It is provided with full documentation relating to the initial purchase of the car from Gemballa's factory in Germany with all original invoices, etc. The car is untouched from its original conception having been well looked after and with a very low mileage. The car is mechanically sound with no issues and comes with all original parts. Believed to be one of 10 examples produced, this 1986 Cyrrus was based on a 930 cabriolet with a naturally aspirated engine tuned by RUF to deliver 240 bhp against the original 207bhp. Similar to the previous Gemballa creations, this Cyrrus received a bespoke interior with an 8-cassette changer along the bottom of the dashboard with driver control buttons mounted on the steering wheel. The Cyrrus is also fitted with BBS split-wheels together with the signature Gemballa triple exhausts. With an extensive history file from new, this example is in extremely good and original condition with under 20,0000 miles from new. An extremely rare opportunity to own one of the most extraordinary cars of the 1980’s. We have the car available for viewing, which is highly recommended to appreciate the workmanship and level of detail on the car along with the excellent original condition.

The car has been perfectly maintained since new, and is a low mileage mileage. Mechanically as part of the Gemballa package the engines were tuned by RUF developing 240 bhp for the European version.
