Description
Transmission: 4 gears, Manual gearbox
Registration number: GB-23-19
The Fiat Nuova 1100, also called Fiat 1100/103 after its internal project number, was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in April 1953.[3] Unlike the 1100 E which it replaced, the 1100/103 had a modern four-door self-supporting body.
The car was powered by the same 1.1-liter petrol engine that was also found in its predecessor. This 1,089 cc four-cylinder was fed by a single Solex or Weber carburetor and delivered 26 kW (36 hp), good for a top speed of 116 km/h. Engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a four-speed manual gearbox.
A typical feature of the 1100/103 in the 1950s were the suicide doors at the front. This would only change in 1960, when the body of the 1100 became more similar to the more modern body of the Fiat 1200.
At the Geneva Motor Show in 1954, Fiat introduced the 1100 Familiare, a five-door station wagon. The tailgate was side-hinged and the vinyl-covered rear seat could be folded down to create a large flat load area that could carry a load of up to 300kg. A third row of two seats, which folded into the trunk floor, provided room for a fifth and sixth passenger. Mechanically, the Familiare was identical to the standard sedan.
The car presented here comes from Portugal and is almost completely original. It still needs to be smoothed and sprayed again. The engine runs nicely and the interior also looks nice. For the enthusiast of the 1100 series.
