Description

Citroen SM 1972 “MyLord” Recreation

History

The 1970s were dominated by a new wave of European sports cars. France was far behind in the game and Facel who was the main player in the sports cars game was almost bankrupt. It was these days when Citroen acquired Maserati and the Citroen SM was born. The coupe version was a real performance car combining comfort borrowed directly from the iconic DS and performance from Maserati’s racing pedigree.

Henri Chapron began experimenting with Citroen special bodies many years before the SM was born and with no surprise that one would not leave without attention from Chapro’s workshop. It was in 1971 at the Paris Motor Show where Chapron revealed the gorgeous “MyLord” a convertible masterpiece of the SM. Unfortunately only 5 examples left Chapron’s workshop making it one of the rarest SM cars.

Our Car:

Our car began its convertion by Carrozzeria Ferrero in Italy, a conversion which started in the late 90s and it was finished only recently 2021. The project passed between 2 owners and then we bought it and we completed the project and the restoration.

There is a detailed archive of pictures of the conversion work, so it's clear how it was reinforced and the quality of the job with attention to detail.

Then the car was completely restored, disassembled totally and reassembled.

The roof is electric and the seats were made in Tolentino to Poltrona Frau workers using Poltrona Frau leather.

The Italian Libretto states that the car is a 2 seat Trasformable (Convertible).

This SM “MyLord Recreation” is one of the finest examples out there with a huge attention to detail creating one of the most gorgeous Citroen cars ever made and a tribute to Henri Chapron’s masterpiece.
