Description

Built at a time where cruising along at over 180kph was something you just did when your car allowed it, the Citroen SM was built to do exactly that: high speed cruising. Essentially being a DS with Maserati organs, it packed a vast amount of features and technology that made it an UFO back then, capable of cruising at speeds of 220kph with sublime ease and comfort. Sitting somewhere between a GT, a sportscar and a comfortable saloon, it served a niche market of enthusiastic buyers, resulting in around 13.000 examples built, of which only few unrestored and well preserved examples remain today.

The car we are presenting is probably one of the most special examples offered on the public market in recent years, as it is an ex "Citroen Suisse » SM example that belonged to the company until mid 80s. In 1983, the Swiss Citroen Club President bought the car with a mere 30.000 KMs on the odometer, after it was sparingly used by Citroen for the last 13 years.

Having been meticulously maintained and looked after during its gentle life, this SM only presents 60.000KMs today and drives and functions beautifully in every possible way. Documented with all its books, accessoires and paperwork, it presents in superb condition inside and out and spent the last 12 years with the fourth owner, a Munich based Architect, who drove the car very regularly.

Having only be owned by very enthusiastic collectors that always spent vast amounts of money on the car, this SM presents a rare opportunity to acquire a car that spent the last 50 years in the best caring hands, making sure the next SM enthusiast gets the best possible example which can be driven cross country on the button if wished.

As always this example can be seen in our showroom on appointment only. Please do not hesitate to give us a call or send us an email should you have interest. Videos, pictures and the history file can be sent upon demand.
