2CV6 "Charleston" with leather seats | probably one of a kind!
Citroën unveiled the 2CV at the Paris Motor Show in 1948. According to legend, Citroën director Pierre-Jules Boulanger is said to have given the following brief to designer André Lefèbvre in 1934: “Design a car that can carry two farmers in their boots and a hundredweight of potatoes or a small barrel of wine, can reach a speed of at least 60 km/h, and consumes only three litres of petrol per 100 km… The car’s appearance is of no importance whatsoever.” At first, this was met with nothing but derision, but despite all the mockery, the 2CV made history with a production run of over 40 years and 5 million units. The modest engine output increased over time to 21 kW/29 hp. The special “Charleston” series introduced an attractive design and a touch of luxury.
The first owner of our 2CV6 “Charleston” was a Citroën dealer in northern Germany. After around 18 years, it passed to its second owner and underwent an extensive overhaul. The current owner of this classic car fitted the luxurious leather interior, but retained the original seat covers. This convertible saloon is therefore likely to be one of a kind.
