1979 | Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray
Corvette C3 Coupé Targa Sportwagen
Corvette C3 Coupé Targa Sportwagen
Description
Chevrolet Corvette C3 Automatic
Year of manufacture 1979, first registered in March 1980 in Germany
One of the rare Corvettes for the German market, with km odometer, improved suspension tuning and better automatic transmission.
The Corvette C3 was introduced in autumn 1967 as the third generation of Corvette, which was built until autumn 1982. From 1969 to 1976, it was also known as the Stingray.
The Corvette C3 looks much more solid than its predecessors. The body was 190 mm longer and now measured 4.64 metres, while the wheelbase and width remained the same. However, it was 50 mm lower than the C2 and only 1.21 metres high. The C3 is also known as the ‘Coke bottle shape Corvette’ due to its striking fender sweep, as the side profile resembles a Coca-Cola bottle. The distinctive design, or elements of it, were often copied by other car manufacturers. New features included recessed handle grips on the top of the doors, which replaced the conventional door handles. From 1969 onwards, the Corvette also had the ignition lock with steering wheel lock in the steering column introduced by GM on all models.

The air intakes in the windscreen are not a defect, do not affect performance and look worse in the photo than they do in real life. When sitting in the car, you can hardly see them. I just wanted to mention/show them.
With a sensible two-line number plate at the rear, which looks much better.
The number plates are held in place with magnets, which hold very, very well but can be easily removed.
The vehicle is registered and can be viewed and test driven by appointment.
