Description
Buick celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1953. To mark this milestone, they introduced their first production V8 engine and gave fans of a modern classic, the Skylark, of which only 1,690 were produced. The Skylark was with a new price of $ 5,000 the most expensive Buick (the Roadmaster convertible was only $ 3,200) available in 1953. The Skylarks were therefore equipped with every luxury such as; power brakes, power steering, electric windows and a "Selectronic" radio with electric antenna. But the most striking thing about the Skylark was of course the unique design. The Skylark has a 3-inch lower front window, a special convertible top, cut-out wheel arches at the rear, sloping doors, unique side rails and Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels. The interior was also more luxurious with a special leather trim and dashboard.
This beautiful "Matador Red" Skylark has been completely body-off restored and is in concours quality condition! Completrly repainted in 2019 This is number 72 of the 1,690 units and was delivered new on February 9, 1953 to Mrs. Evelyn Wilson in the state of Michigan. Another nice fact is that this Skylark has been used for the Danbury Mint scale models. Equipped with the optional and popular "Continental Spare Tire Kit". The '53 Skylark is one of the most sought after post-war American classics! Equipped with Dutch registration.
