Regarded by many as the definitive luxury convertible of its era, the Aston Martin V8 Volante combined effortless performance with handcrafted refinement in a way few contemporaries could rival. Elegant yet imposing, the Volante offered the full grand touring experience: muscular V8 power, superb long-distance comfort and the unmistakable presence that became synonymous with Aston Martin throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Introduced in 1978 following strong customer demand for an open version of the acclaimed V8 saloon, the Volante quickly established itself as one of the world's most desirable convertibles. Featuring a fully lined and electrically operated hood, the car retained the sense of solidity and craftsmanship expected of Aston Martin, while the richly appointed interior, complete with extensive walnut veneers and Connolly leather, provided an atmosphere of understated luxury. Performance remained suitably impressive, with the 5.3-litre V8 delivering effortless high-speed touring capability and refinement in equal measure. Production was limited, with fewer than 850 examples believed to have been built.
