Description

The Armstrong Siddely Sapphire is the car the Queen preferred to drive when she was not obliged to drive a Rolls Royce. The car was called 'the Sphinx' because it was so silent and smooth.

This is one of the very few produced for LHD. It was delivered new in the Netherlands in 1955. An original certificate (linen!) is present. The car is as original as possible. It is in overall very good condition. It is very reliable and is a confortable runner, so I used it for many tours in Europe.  It runs smoothly at 70 - 80 miles an hour.

I bought it in 1983 and enjoyed it ever since. When I bought it it had been restored by the chairman of the dutch AS club who owned it. This AS has two carburators and a pre select.

State of the car

The car is structullary sound, as is the motor. Recently dynamo, voltage regulator and the whole braking system (master cylinder, wheel cylinders) were renewed. It also has new tyres.

The dark green painting is good. The light green painting has flaws. Chrome is excellent except for two wheel rims. The interior is renewed in 2019 except for the seats and door panels which are original. The seats have some damages.

Receipts from 1983 on are present. I sell due to older age.
