Description

Compared to its mainstream competitors like MG and Fiat, the Alfa Romeo Spider was the choice of the discerning connoisseur, when an open 2-seater sports car was on the wish list in the 1960s and 70s. The well-known Alfa Romeo “North” full aluminum engine with double overhead camshafts, 2 double carburetors, 5-speed gearbox and disc brakes on all 4 wheels were standard features for the model. In 1971, the powerful 2 liter engine with 131 HP, larger front brakes and a LSD on the rear axle arrived, all features that the competitors could not match. The Series 2 model is recognizable by the new sharply cut Kamm rear (from the German aerodynamics professor Kamm that discovered the “slack” slipstream behind the car better lost grip in the body compared to the elongated end of the Duetto design), and exudes classic Italian style and elegance. Truly you feel the “La Dolce Vita” spirit in every ride you take, although the car can perform quite sporty if so required.

The Series 2 version of Alfa’s immortal open Spider is the most sought-after version among many Alfisti. Here you get a fantastic combination of beautiful design and the most powerful mechanics. The cleaner design line of the series 2 was perhaps a bit lost in the later updated designs (known as series 3 and 4), in which the factory tried to keep the model up to date and modern.

This car was purchased all the way back in 1985 by a Dane living in Pisa. After some years he returned back home, and brought the car with him. And it remained in the family ever since. Carefully used and enjoyed, it has always been serviced and properly maintained. There is extensive documentation of the work that has been carried out. The hood is in great condition with a very good fit. Mechanically the car is also in very good condition and drives like a well-maintained Alfa should. The car is ready to continue enjoying La Dolce Vita.
