Chassis 2420502:
This 2000 GT Veloce was originally produced on the 24th of May 1973, and sold to its first owner on the 15th of June in the Italian capital of Rome. Finished in the beautiful specification of Blu Pervinca Metallizzato over a Cuoio Naturale interior - exactly the specification it is presented in today. According to its accompanying Certificato Di Origine, this example is completely matching numbers & colours throughout - which is rarely the case on one of these. Even the original engine "71174" is still in place (and in very good health) as well. The body of this example is truly impressive, very straight and largely original throughout with consistent panel gaps all-round. Paintwork is of a high standard and presents generally great & consistent with minor (but inevitable, for 50 y/o car) signs of use.
Although the exact date of the car's restoration is unknown, experience tells us it is about a decade or so old. After having sourced and acquired this example in late 2025, we subsequently ordered a meticulous going-over by experts in Italy and the Netherlands. Although the Alfa presented in beautiful restored condition to start off with, it was in need of some technical attention to get her "on-the-button" to Garage Maestricht standards. All parts & work are on invoice in the history file. The recommissioning was specifically targetting the following technical aspects amongst others: Carburettors rebuilt (refurbishing kit, ultrasonic cleaning), driveshaft rebuilt and balanced (new CV joints, pendant bearing, Hardy disc), brakes rebuilt (calipers, hoses, new servo, fresh fluid, handbrake cable, handbrake shoes), fuel system serviced (filter, gasket, lines, etc.), new clutch kit, new tie-rod ends, Eibach lowered (40mm) springs, the usual bushes and rubbers that were in need of replacing, exhaust system overhaul incl. new mounts and heat shield. Last but not least a large service was carried out: fresh fluids all-round, filters, spark plugs, HT leads, alternator belt, new oil & water reservoir caps and new rear wheel bearings. A fresh set of Hankook Ventus XL tires have been fitted on the brand new GTA-style wheels with matching GTA wheel nuts (because details, right?).
Today the GTV just drives as a well-sorted 105 should - easy start on both hot and cold and pulling very strongly throughout the rev range. The drivestrain is smooth and free of vibrations, slick gearbox with no crunchy 2nd gears and last but not least the rear axle is silent and creates a very well balanced drive thanks to the limited slip differential! It goes without saying all electrics work as per they should - even the quarter lights are working (yes, that's quite a rare thing)!
This example is complete with its original jack, spare wheel, dedicated history file containing factory certificate of athenticity, ASI certficate as well as some invoices of the above mentioned technical overhaul. No 50 year-old Alfa Romeo is perfect, and neither is this one. But it is certainly up there with the best on the current market!
Bite-Size:
A very well sorted example of the top-of-the-range 105 Bertone. Presented in attractive and matching numbers & colours - it ticks pretty much all boxes those in the know are looking for.
