In 1967, Alfa Romeo introduced the F12 (Furgone) and A12 (Autocarro) commercial vehicles as a successor of the Romeo 3. The front was updated with a wider chrome and mesh grill, and the 1290 cc Alfa Romeo twin cam engine was updated to 52 bhp. The front-engined van had a 4-speed gearbox and front wheel drive. In 1973, a 4-cilinder 1760 cc Perkins diesel with 50 bhp was released. This engine was also available in the Giulia sedan from 1976. The F12 had a top speed of around 115 km/h, and was equipped with front disc brakes and rear drums. Alfa Romeo built 17300 units of these commercial vehicles between 1967 and 1983, and very few of them remain today making them highly sought-after by collectors.
This particular example was fully restored in Germany in 2018, and at the same time fitted with adjustable rear-axle height control featuring additional air suspension. This allows the ride height to be adjusted according to the load. It has the 1760 cc Perkins diesel engine and a 4-speed gearbox. The Alfa Romeo is registered in Belgium as a classic car and also has the necessary TÜV documents certifying the modification to the rear axle. Everything works as it should and the Alfa Romeo is ready for use.
This A12 is a real eye-catcher and is the icing on the cake for any serious Alfa Romeo collection. A car transporter of this calibre very rarely comes onto the market, making this a unique opportunity for the true enthusiast.
