We are selling this exclusive VW T1 Samba Bus from Brazil on behalf of a customer.
From around 1950, VW produced these special minibuses, which have since been known as the Bulli. The special 'Samba' model of the T1 generation had its world premiere at the 1951 IAA and was built in Germany until 1967. This iconic Bulli is still considered one of the most beautiful touring vehicles with a nostalgic flair. In Germany, the T1 was replaced by the T2 Bulli in 1967.
This sought-after collector's item boasts 23 windows that allow all-round visibility, as well as its harmonious two-tone paintwork and the safari-style windshield that can be fully opened. The interior is very spacious with three rows of seats and nine seats.
In the early 1950s, the Samba Bulli also enjoyed success in Brazil, where it was produced until 1976. It's well known among experts that the Brazilian-made VW isn't a "cheap imitation," but rather offers many advantages over the German version. For example, it wasn't exposed to excessive road salt and can be restored virtually rust-free.
The 1974 Samba Bulli for sale here was built in Brazil.
Before its import to Germany in 2019, it underwent a complete frame-off restoration. Among other things, an auxiliary heater was installed and the clutch was replaced.
Even before its registration in Germany, the vehicle received a replacement engine and, shortly afterwards, a completely new electrical system including a wiring harness. The speedometer was also replaced in 2020.
The T1 Samba is in excellent condition, both mechanically and body-wise. A Classic Data report dated December 2024 is available.
