Opis
The Spyker C8 Spyder is undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary European sports cars of its era. At a time when even exclusive automobiles were increasingly shaped by industrial production processes, the revived Dutch marque Spyker pursued an entirely different philosophy: a largely hand-built sports car combining distinctive design, the finest materials and an unmistakable homage to the marque’s historic ties with aviation.
The example presented here is Chassis #030, making it one of the early examples of the C8 Spyder. Historical Spyker registers already document the car in the colour combination of Gun Metal Grey with a brown interior. Today, the car is presented in precisely this exceptionally elegant combination, complemented by a beautifully crafted cognac leather interior.
Few other sports cars of the period offer a comparable sense of craftsmanship and bespoke manufacture. The C8’s interior is defined by fine leather, polished aluminium and numerous components specially designed and manufactured for Spyker. Particularly distinctive are the aviation-inspired instrumentation and the spectacular exposed gearshift mechanism. Rather than concealing functional components, Spyker deliberately transforms them into integral elements of the car’s design.
The C8 Spyder is equally unmistakable from the outside. Its low, purposeful silhouette, distinctive air intakes and numerous finely executed details give the car an almost sculptural presence. Behind the driver sits a 4.2-litre V8 engine, delivering its power through a manual transmission – a combination that gives the open Spyker an exceptionally direct and engaging driving experience.
The accompanying documentation allows part of the more recent history of Chassis #030 to be traced in considerable detail. By 2019 at the latest, the Spyker was located in the Netherlands. A Dutch invoice dated 22 October 2019 records the car with a mileage of just 6,087 km. Further RDW inspection reports document 6,245 km in August 2020 and 6,445 km in July 2021. All three documented inspections were passed successfully, with no repair requirements or defects noted in the available inspection reports.
