Vintage and Prestige are proud to be offering this 1934 Rolls Royce 20/25 Sports Saloon by Hooper for sale. A handsome and well-proportioned Rolls Royce sports saloon presented in navy blue. The Rolls Royce 20/25 Sports Saloon has been in long term ownership of an RREC member who has maintained the Rolls Royce 20/25 Sports Saloon to high standards.
22 Dec 1934 Rolls Royce GAE78 was delivered to Mr Charles Howard Goulden Millis of 8 Bishopgate, London SC2, but paid for by The Westminster Electric Supply Corporation for the sum of £1,410. She is one of 29 of design number 5790 built by Hooper and Co., London carriage makers to our Royal Family for over 100 years, and arguably the finest of all British Coachbuilders. Design number 5790 was, according to Hooper & Co., "elegant yet understated".
Rather than being freshly restored, the Rolls Royce 20/25 Sports Saloon is in good order but has a light patina of use. The grey leather upholstery is in good order throughout having been renewed some years ago. The walnut dash board and door cappings are all original.
The Rolls Royce 20/25 Sports Saloon starts readily and drives very well with a good strong engine. Oil pressure is good and the Rolls Royce 20/25 Sports Saloon runs cool in heavy traffic. A central front spot lamp is fitted.. Large tools are found in a slide out drawer under the rear seat. The boot folds open with the boot lid forming a luggage platform when open.
Recent additions include a modern spin on oil filter & also a Tim Payne overdrive that makes the car very relaxed at speed. The engine has had a recent rebore & also new valve guides & valve seals. The gig ends have also been machined to take up wear & thus the car is in super running condition. All in all this is a very tidy well sorted car with the history file showing lots of recent work & care of ownership.
