Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this low mileage, left hand drive, wide-bodied 911 Speedster 3.2. Finished in desirable Silver metallic paint, this is a special example of an already-rare Porsche. The 911 Speedster was essentially designed as a fine weather vehicle and open-air Porsche driving had rarely been so much fun.
The inspiration for the car was derived from the wonderful 356 Porsche Speedsters of the 1950’s. With its lowered seat height, and steeply raked windscreen, and curved speed humps, the Speedster provides a great driving experience and makes a very impressive design statement.
The 3.2 litre engine was the air-cooled 6-cylinder, horizontally opposed engine of the Carrera, with a compression ratio of 9.5:1. Maximum torque figure is 195 lb/ft at 4,800 rpm. The premise for the development of the 911 Carrera was more power, combined with reduced fuel consumption. So, a re-design of the engine’s inlet and exhaust systems, the fitment of a service-free Digital Engine Management ignition system (DME) in conjunction with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel metering was undertaken. The result was a significant increase in engine performance but a significant reduction in fuel consumption, through better engine efficiency and fuel cut-off when coasting.
Supplied new by Porsche Car North America, Smyrna, Georgia, in July1989, our Speedster was shipped to Germany where it remained until 2018, before being sent over to the United Kingdom. Our super 911 Speedster boasts a service history with Porsche main dealers in USA, Germany, Italy and the UK. It has now been freshly serviced including sparks plugs, drive belt and a new N-rated tyre set fitted. It also comes complete with the MOT certificates, original Porsche handbook pack, tool roll and spare key. This is an opportunity to own a great example of this iconic 911 model. The 911 Speedster will also be supplied with a 12-month comprehensive warranty policy.
