In the years that followed, the Porsche was comprehensively developed further technically and consistently built up to the specification of a 2.8 RSR. On 10/10/1987, our customer acquired the Porsche in Upper Austria with English documents. The wide RSR body that was already present shaped the character of the vehicle from the outset. The first type approval in Austria took place in 1992.
As is not uncommon with exceptional automobiles, a close bond with the vehicle developed over the years. In 1999, the procurement of components for a comprehensive rebuild finally began. The aim was to create a technically as authentic as possible 2.8 RSR from the existing RS base and RSR body.
The work was carried out by Leo Schleidt, one of Vienna's most renowned Porsche specialist workshops and a long-standing trusted advisor to our customer.

Particular attention was paid to the engine build. Designed for 2.8 litres of displacement and approximately 300 hp, the engine was consistently built to the RSR model. Among other features, it has electronic twin ignition with two new HKZ ignition systems, a rev limiter, a rebuilt large plunger pump to RSR specification, and a slide-valve system instead of a conventional throttle body. The RS racing gearbox was also comprehensively overhauled and fitted with new bearings.
Since completion of the restoration and technical rebuild, the Porsche has been driven only around 5,800 kilometres.
In 2016, this 911 was approved as a historic vehicle by MA 46 during a renewed inspection and type approval process. This means that the current build is not only comprehensively documented from a technical and historical perspective, but also officially recognised accordingly. The Austrian type approval as a 2.8 RSR replica and registration as a historic vehicle round off the exceptional history of this special Porsche.
