The Mercedes-Benz 280 SL, better known as the iconic Pagoda, ranks among the most beloved classics of the 1960s and 1970s. Its timeless design, penned by Paul Bracq, and the characteristic concave hardtop made this model an icon that seamlessly blends style with engineering excellence.
This particular example, built in 1971, underwent a complete and meticulous restoration and rebuild in Germany, carried out over several years by an official Mercedes-Benz Classic Partner. No expense was spared, and the car has been restored to a level that meets the very highest standards of originality and quality. The result is a Pagoda of true European top class.
The car is finished in its original colour scheme of Anthracite Gray over black leather, exactly as confirmed by the original Datenkarte. A modest yet exceptionally elegant combination that perfectly matches the refined character of the 280 SL.
In addition to its aesthetic qualities, this Pagoda features the desirable long-ratio rear axle, ensuring a more relaxed driving experience at higher speeds – a detail that further enhances the grand touring character of this model.
The restoration was carried out with great craftsmanship and is extensively documented. Numerous invoices are available, confirming both the scope and quality of the work performed. In addition, the car comes with complete documentation, including the original Mercedes-Benz pouch with books, making its history fully traceable.
