Few modern sports cars capture the raw essence of driving quite like the Lotus Exige S. Developed as the harder-edged sibling to the celebrated Lotus Elise, the Exige S represents the very best of Lotus Cars’ long-standing philosophy. Simplify, then add lightness, creating an uncompromising connection between driver and road.
At its heart lies a supercharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine producing an exhilarating surge of power, delivering razor-sharp throttle response and a soundtrack that perfectly complements the car’s focused character. With a lightweight aluminium chassis and minimal mass to move, the Exige S delivers extraordinary performance and agility, translating every driver input with immediacy and precision.
Visually, the Exige S is unmistakable. Its purposeful stance is defined by deep aerodynamic elements, functional air intakes, and the signature rear wing that hints strongly at the car’s motorsport DNA. Compact, aggressive and unmistakably Lotus, every line of the car serves a performance-driven purpose. Inside, the cabin reflects the Exige’s uncompromising approach. The minimalist cockpit places the driver firmly at the centre of the experience, with supportive sports seats, exposed aluminium details, and a purposeful layout designed for focus and control.
The car offered here is nothing short of excellent, finished in the wonderful shade of Starlight Black, with black wheels and black brake calipers. The interior continues the theme, with black leather seats, steering wheel and door cards. Both exterior and interior present in fantastic condition across the car.
What sets this car apart however, is an extensive history file that documents the cars 12,800 miles over the last 17 years with just two owners. The first of whom took delivery on 19th September, 2009 after placing the order just one week earlier with Lipscomb Lotus. The second owner then purchased the car in October 2016 and has cherished it since. The original order form confirms that the car was specified with the Performance Pack and Touring Pack, as well as air-conditioning and the optional Starlight Black paint. The Performance Pack brings with its a factory power upgrade to 240bhp, AP Racing 4-pot front brakes, a full length roof scoop and variable traction control.
The car features a very comprehensive service history, with continual light use over the years as confirmed by the MOT history mileage recordings showing that the car has not been left to sit, the service records are complete with each invoice present for every service carried out from new, including the original running in service. MOT certificates are also present as well as correspondence from Lotus in the cars earlier life.
Now firmly recognised as a modern classic, the 2009 Exige S represents the pinnacle of lightweight performance engineering from Lotus Cars. A thrilling, analogue sports car that continues to set the benchmark for purity of driving experience.
