Opis
Lagonda M35R, built in 1934. Chassis number Z11327, engine number 3088. Finished in dark British Racing Green with a dark green leather interior and matching green carpeting. The car is fitted with a black mohair soft top, top cover, and tonneau cover, and has black side window frames. This majestic Lagonda M35R was delivered new with an ST44 closed sedan body and is now fitted with a T9 open four-seater sports body. This conversion took place between 2008 and 2018 during an extensive restoration, during which the magnetos and carburetors were also overhauled.
In 2022, the exhaust system was renewed and new Blockley 5.50/6.00 x 19 tires were fitted. The car is very well maintained, is in excellent condition, and is mechanically up to date. The current owner has participated in various historic and 'pre-war' classic car events with this Lagonda, resulting in many lasting memories. With only about 60 chassis produced in 1934-1935, the M35R is one of the rarest pre-war Lagonda models. The car is powered by the famous Meadows 3,5-liter inline six-cylinder engine, an engine also found in other sporty brands such as Invicta and Frazer Nash. Developed as a lighter and more responsive alternative to the large 4,5-liter M45 engine, the 3,5-liter Meadows is known for its excellent finish, the very strong and durable crankshaft and bearing construction capable of withstanding high loads and sustained revs, strong mid-range torque, and reliability under racing conditions. This fine Lagonda M35R is a sublime pre-war open tourer with authentic sporty handling characteristics.
The controls are unmistakably vintage, with a solid mechanical feel in the levers and the familiar double 'de-clutching' when shifting through the four gears. Every pre-war car enthusiast will be smiling from ear to ear during every kilometer of every drive. The Lagonda is equipped with a central lubrication system and comes with the original starter handle, ready for use if needed. This beautiful M35R is an excellent companion for classic car events and historic regularity rallies.
