Lagonda LG 45 Sport Special, year 1937. Chassis (VIN) number 12158G10, engine number 12153, original UK registration number BKU999. Colours: Dark blue bodywork, silver wire wheels combined with a dark brown leather interior trimmed with dark blue carpet. Black cloth hood and hood cover. This fantastic Lagonda LG45 was purchased in the UK by Altena Classic Service on behalf of a client. The Lagonda came in as a complete project car with a good chassis, bad bodywork, boxes of original parts and a (specialist) overhauled engine in 2018. The axles and the engine were originally factory fitted to the chassis and have matching numbers. A new bespoke bodywork was made in England on behalf of and according to the wishes of our client. The wishes were: 2 doors, easy to operate hood, sporty looks, robust build, safety, and sufficient storage space. Altena Classic Service have restored and rebuilt the chassis and the mechanical parts bar the engine and the brakes which were already perfectly overhauled in the UK. After arrival of the bodywork Altena Classic Service and partners have taken care of the paintwork, bespoke interior, bespoke hood, and the completion of this wonderful Lagonda Sport Special. During the rebuilt the original gearbox was exchanged for a more robust and easier to operate fully synchronised Alvis four speed unit which improves the driving experience significantly. All the original parts which came with the car like lamps, gauges, and trim were restored to their original glory and fitted again. New 19-inch wire wheels were fitted and 6.50 x 19-inch Blockley tyres. The car comes with an extensive restoration file complete with invoices and the original drawings for the bespoke special bodywork. Costs nor effort were spared to build this unique, great looking, and high-quality vintage special Lagonda.
This Lagonda LG 45 Sports Special is a unique and fantastic vintage driver car. The rare 4,5 Litre engine is powerful and runs beautifully. The Alvis gearbox is a delight to operate, and the interior offers plenty of space, comfortable seats and a wonderful dashboard. Sufficient storage space for longer journeys and historic touring events can be found behind the front seats and in the lockable boot. The automobile is in a superb condition and ready to enjoy to the fullest! The current owner has enjoyed the car during the Zandvoort Classic Revival, the 2024 Tulip Rally and on many more enchanting moments! The car is currently registered in the Netherlands.
