Rarely does a classic come along that has withstood the test of time as impressively as this 1973 Jaguar E-Type V12 Roadster. As a matching numbers example, never restored, and largely retaining its original paint, this is not a restored car, but a exceptionally authentic E-Type. A completely original example that has preserved its character and still breathes the exact look and feel of the early 1970s.
Exterior
The bodywork is in a beautiful, largely original condition and still features parts of its first factory paint. The black soft-top was replaced in 1993 and perfectly complements the timeless design of the E-Type. The chrome work, including the bumpers and the handsome Haan chrome wire wheels, presents itself in very well-kept condition, giving the car the elegant appearance for which the Series 3 is so beloved.
Interior
Step inside and experience the luxury of an iconic British sports car. The black leather interior is in a lovely, original state and seamlessly matches the authentic character of the car. The dashboard and controls have been preserved in their original state, ensuring the interior still radiates the atmosphere of 1973. An E-Type like this—never restored and boasting so many original details—is a rare sight today.
Mechanics
Under the long bonnet lies the impressive 5.3-litre V12 engine, mated to the highly desirable 4-speed manual gearbox. Thanks to excellent maintenance, the mechanical components are in exceptionally good condition. In 1993, the gearbox and propshaft were rebuilt, followed by a cylinder head overhaul in 2009. In 2016, the engine underwent a full rebuild including new cylinder liners, pistons, timing chain, and guides. The crankshaft was ground and fitted with new bearings by Rob Beere Race Engineering in the United Kingdom. Additionally, the car was equipped with a new radiator, a stainless steel exhaust system, and all suspension bushes were replaced. The steering rack was renewed in the late 1990s, and the adjustable shock absorbers contribute to outstanding handling. The Jaguar is also equipped with power steering.
History
This E-Type was delivered new in the United States in 1973 and came to the Netherlands in 1993. Since 2001, the car has been in the possession of its last owner, who has maintained it with great care. Thanks to the extensive maintenance history, the many technical investments, and the fact that the car was never restored but always kept original, this is a rare opportunity for the enthusiast looking for an authentic, matching numbers Jaguar E-Type V12 Roadster with an exceptionally well-documented history.
