Over the years, “hot hatches” have become a category of their own within the automotive world. They are popular because these models combine spectacular looks with remarkably high performance. This Ford Focus RS, from the second generation of Focus RS models, fits perfectly into this category. It is a true pocket rocket, yet combined with a sporty and luxurious interior and high-quality finish. The 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo engine, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, propels the Focus from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and can continue to a top speed of 263 km/h when desired. This makes the Focus one of the hottest hatchbacks of its era.
Ford went to great lengths to transfer the enormous power effectively to the front wheels. The brand impressed with the so-called RevoKnuckle suspension system and a limited-slip differential, allowing the front-wheel-drive RS to achieve these remarkable performance figures and outstanding handling characteristics.
The letters “RS” stand for Rallye Sport. This might suggest a stripped-down car designed purely to reduce weight. However, the Focus RS is actually a very well-equipped vehicle, featuring leather and Alcantara Recaro sports seats, fully automatic climate control, an integrated audio and navigation system, and all the comfort-enhancing features expected from a flagship model.
This Focus RS was originally delivered in Germany and comes with eight service stamps in the accompanying service booklet, confirming the careful ownership history. The corrosion protection treatments and other maintenance work have also been properly documented and stamped in the service booklet. With only 100,838 km on the odometer, the car has averaged less than 4,000 km per year. It drives exceptionally well, with the five-cylinder engine producing its characteristic and enjoyable growl. The car remains in its original paintwork apart from the bonnet and front bumper and is presented in excellent condition.
