Built in 1972, this FIAT 500 L combines a remarkable family history passed down by the seller with a restoration carried out over more than ten years. According to the seller, his grandfather purchased the car as a new vehicle from a dealer in Rome in May 1972; the 500 was later driven by his aunt and eventually passed on to him in 1998. The restoration began in 2015 and was completed in 2025. Today, the little Italian once again presents itself in classic ivory with a brown interior and the characteristic folding fabric roof.
Few automobiles are as immediately associated with everyday Italian and urban culture as the classic FIAT 500. The car offered here belongs to the 500 L series, which was produced from 1968 to 1973. The “L” denotes the more comfort-oriented version of the series.
The basic recipe deliberately remained simple: compact dimensions, a rear-mounted engine, low weight, and straightforward mechanics. That is a pleasantly human form of provenance for a car that was itself always a car for people.
