G. Autocraft produced 80 examples of very faithful and accurate reproductions of the famous marque, of which 7 were Spyders in the 70s. The famous Italian marque officially offered the Scaglietti bodied Daytona Spyder for two years from 1971-1973 with only 122 examples being made, of which seven were right hand drive. Ironically this means that the replica is rarer than the real thing.
Acknowledged as the finest recreation and best built Daytona replicas ever built, these are very faithful and accurate reproductions. E. G. Autokraft/ PKA/ Arrow was the work of Emilio Garcia and Peter Jacobs. Emilio was well-known for turning Ferrari 365 Berlinetta Daytonas into Spyders for years so it was a logical step for him to engineer a replica. He turned to Peter Jacobs to make the bodies, Peter was the man who built the composite bodies for the RS200 Ford rally car and very well-made Ford GT 40 replicas. The E. G bodies were Kevlar reinforced composite and could even be had in aluminium at extra cost. Moulded from an original Scaglietti car, this is without question the most accurate replica of the marque. Dimensions are exact and allow genuine parts to be used if required, such as the genuine headlights, front corner indicators, tail lights, pop-up headlamps, grill and chrome bumpers on this car. Manufactured in a very limited number, bespoke to clients requirements at the time, they are very convincing to all. Unlike other replicas, a multi tube bird cage framework designed by the race famed, Emillo Garcia, were able to accept Jaguar XJ12 subframes containing anti-dive independent suspension, vented disc brakes, Jaguar V12 engine and 5 speed manual gearbox.
This example, built in the 1980s we believe, is presented in red with beige Daytona style interior seats and a black hood. Its powered by a 5.3 V12 Jaguar engine mated to a manual gearbox. The car comes with various old MoT test certificates, a detailed vehicle inspection report from 2017, various invoices, photographs, wiring diagrams and a Heritage Certificate for the Jaguar doner car ( XJ 5.3 ) These are striking looking sports cars offering head turning presence on the road with envious glances from anyone passing - fun, convertible, Jaguar powered and looking like its more famous counterpart, this is a must for any car enthusiast. Interested parties should note that the lights worked, going up and down, when loaded on the trailer to come to the auction but for some reason they are not working now.
