1986 Ducati 750 F1 – Period NCR Prepared & Meticulously Preserved

An investment-grade, beautifully preserved 1986 Ducati 750 F1 in excellent condition. This specific motorcycle blends unbeatable factory history with prestigious, documented period-correct racing modifications, offering an incredible opportunity for serious collectors worldwide.

  • Price: €18,000
  • Location: Turin, Italy
  • Mileage: 22,324 km
  • VIN / Chassis Number: ZDM750R500353
  • Documents: Original Italian registration. Features its highly desirable, first-registration black-and-white license plate: PG 143018.

The Ultimate Period Upgrade: NCR Tuning

This 750 F1 was tailored specifically for its former owner, Andrea Sorci—a prominent racing rider of the era. The modifications were carried out directly by NCR (Nepoti Caracchi Racing), effectively operating as Ducati’s external racing department at the time.

The high-end upgrades include:

  • Engine & Intake: Upgraded oversized carburetors, optimized performance intake, and custom-modified cylinder heads. True to NCR tradition, the cylinder heads are engraved with the client's name (Sorci).
  • Exhaust & Brakes: High-performance racing exhaust system and a custom Brembo rear caliper bracket.
  • Wheels: Ultra-lightweight period racing magnesium wheels.
  • Bodywork: The lower fairing (belly pan) was modified to optimize engine cooling. In line with the racing customs of the era, the turn signals and mirrors were removed.

Note on Originality: Apart from these prestigious and highly coveted period NCR modifications, the motorcycle is 100% original in every part. This non-factory setup was the ultimate status symbol for Ducati enthusiasts in the 1986 era.

History & Provenance

  • The Rider (Andrea Sorci): A respected name in endurance racing, Sorci famously teamed up with legendary Italian rider and journalist Nico Cereghini at the 1976 Bol d'Or, finishing an impressive 10th overall on a Segoni-Kawasaki. (Watch a vintage video clip of Sorci here: fb.watch)
  • Recent Life: Purchased by a Roman collector in 2019, the bike was relocated to Turin, where it has been lovingly kept as a centerpiece inside a luxury apartment in the historic Piazza Vittorio Veneto.
  • No Racing Abuse: Unlike many surviving F1s, this bike never participated in competitive racing and was strictly used on the road by Sorci. It has escaped the typical modernizations or modifications that often ruin these classics, retaining only its noble, period NCR upgrades.

Mechanical Condition & Maintenance

The bike is fully sorted, serviced, and ready. Fine-tuning and replacement of all consumable materials were recently executed by the renowned Lenci Racing workshop (Gianfranco Lenci) in Rome—one of Italy's premier authorities on classic desmo sportbikes.

Massive Package of Original Parts Included

The sale includes an extensive, valuable inventory of original and spare parts, making it effortless to return the bike to 100% factory-stock configuration if desired:

  • Original factory wheel set
  • Original factory exhaust system
  • Stock OEM rear shock absorber
  • Stock factory air intake system
  • Original factory turn signal kit
  • Original factory rearview mirrors + a second set of period-correct mirrors

Heritage of the Ducati 750 F1 & NCR

  • NCR's Legacy: Founded in 1967 in Borgo Panigale by Rino Caracchi and Giorgio Nepoti, NCR is legendary for building world-championship-winning machinery for icons like Mike Hailwood and Tony Rutter, alongside historic victories at Daytona and Imola.
  • 750 F1 Racing Pedigree: The 750 F1 model line dominated the era, winning the 1985 Italian F1 Championship with Virginio Ferrari, the 1985 Italian Formula TT, and the legendary 1986 Daytona Battle of the Twins with Marco Lucchinelli.
