Pure Italian Roadster Spirit – Maserati Spyder E of 1993

The Biturbo marked nothing less than Maserati’s rebirth in the early 1980s. Under the direction of Alejandro de Tomaso, the company introduced the world’s first twin-turbocharged production engine - wrapped in a compact, sharply angular design and paired with an unexpectedly spacious interior adorned with wood, velour, and leather.

All of this came at half the price of a Ferrari 208 GTB - despite the Maserati offering 25 more horsepower. Orders for the Biturbo soared, and no other car embodied the luxury and indulgence of the 1980s quite like it. To build on that success, Zagato developed the open-top Spyder, making the Biturbo even more desirable—and significantly more exclusive: just over 3,000 units were produced through 1994.

The example offered here was delivered new in Switzerland in 1993, equipped with an automatic transmission, and has remained in the same ownership ever since. With a remarkably low mileage of just 17,500 kilometres, driven only in summer, its condition is nothing short of exceptional. The mileage is guaranteed, the service booklet is present, and major maintenance - including the timing belt, water pump, and tensioner bearing—was carried out two years ago by a Maserati specialist.

Unrestored and in beautifully original condition, this car is a true time capsule of Italian automotive craftsmanship. Since reaching its 30th birthday, it has been registered as a veteran vehicle in Switzerland—a clear testament to its authenticity and preservation.
