Both eminently usable and importantly, reliable, the Gallardo was manufactured from 2003 to 2013 and was the most successful model in the Sant'Agata firm's history, with more than 14,000 produced. The recipe is simple: an even-firing V10 nestled behind the driver, Lamborghini's signature wedge-shaped profile, and more than 500bhp, hurling you towards 60mph in just over four seconds. Named after legendary Spanish bullfighter Francisco Gallardo, it was offered with either a conventional six-speed manual transmission or an 'E-gear' - a six-speed automated manual gearbox, allowing for quicker gearshifts than the manual.

Compared to Sant'Agata's offering today, the Gallardo looks subtle to the point of being subdued - neither word often associated with Lamborghini.
