1968 | Ford Shelby GT 500

This beautifully rebuilt genuine Shelby Mustang GT500 was built on the on the 11th January 1968 at the Metuchen plant, finished in beautiful Lime Gold paint and Saddle Vinyl luxury interior. 100 PDT returns to us from a regular customer who has enjoyed many faultless miles and carried out meticulous detailing in the engine bay. The car was supplied new by Kimnach Ford Inc, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, VA and featured shoulder harness, extra cooling package, wheel lip mouldings, power disc brakes, power steering and tilt away steering wheel, all confirmed by the Marti Auto Works report.

Our example has been subject of a two major bare shell rebuilds by a UK specialist and has completed minimal miles since completion. The car was brought over to the UK in 1989 and from old MOT certificates we can see the Mustang covered around 1000 miles up to 2001. The Shelby along with a collection of other cars was then dry stored for almost 15 years and discovered in 2015 when the full restoration was commissioned. The rebuild was finished to an exceptionally high standard and completed by 2017.

A comprehensive file of paperwork accompanies the car detailing thousands of pounds worth of expenditure. Photos show the bare shell being prepared and fully painted, including underside, then fitted up with some new and some re chromed brightwork. The interior was fully re-trimmed and the car mechanically overhauled as required. The original engine was treated to various work to include new pistons, con rods, main bearings, oil pump, a five speed gearbox was fitted, new power steering and the brakes and suspension overhauled along with various ancillaries.

The car has been finished to an exceptional standard, It is mechanically outstanding and presents beautifully in showroom condition. The underside is presented in first class order with beautifully painted floor pans, the engine bay is of show quality and the bodywork and paint finish are top quality. The interior has been beautifully finished, and on the road the car offers incredible power and performance, and will most certainly not disappoint. A true collectors piece.
