This beautifully presented Alvis TA21 DHC has come to us from the former Chairman of the Alvis Owners Club. SNW 9 was delivered new to Arnold G Wilson in Leeds on the 25TH September 1953, registered new SNW 9 and supplied new to Ronald S Schofield, the Managing Director of Schofields Department on the Headrow in Leeds. According to the TA21 Register the Alvis was supplied with various special features to include bonnet ventilators, bulkhead insulation, polished wood capping’s to screen pillars, new type sunvisors and front bumper, twin carburettors with modified jets and heat shield and Trico windscreen washer.

From the extensive history with the car, we know the Alvis was discovered in a lock up during the mid-1990's where it had been stood since 1958. The Alvis was in a very poor state and needed full restoration. The car was then stripped down to the bare chassis and completely rebuilt from the ground up with a comprehensive photographic record. The body was fully restored, the car re-trimmed, re-painted, re-chromed and fully re-trimmed. Mechanically the Alvis was totally overhauled including the engine that was stripped down and rebuilt. The Alvis was discovered after almost 40 years with a mileage of around 65000 recorded, quite possibly genuine due to being laid up so early in its life. Since completion of the restoration, the Alvis has been in regular use, attending shows and events, and has covered around 10,000 miles since.

Throughout the 2000's the Alvis has been incredibly well maintained with lots of invoices on file from Red Triangle for maintenance and service work. In more recent years the Alvis was owned by the former Owners Club Chairman who spent a further £13,000 on servicing, general upkeep, radiomobile radio, a re-paint after over 20 years since the restoration, and hours of snagging and detailing to ensure everything works correctly including the clock! As result of the recent expenditure, the Alvis proved to be totally reliable for regular use. The TA21 then came to us in 2022 and was soon sold to an Aberdeenshire based customer who also purchased a Hotchkiss Jeep from us. The pair now both return as it recent owner is ready for a change, something we love to help with....

SNW 9 presents beautifully with lovely bodywork and a gleaming, bright paint finish. The chrome work is impressive, the chassis beautifully cleaned and well presented and the Light Tan leather lovely throughout. The general look of the interior is delightful with impressive woodwork, lovely carpets and excellent hood. The Alvis is mechanically strong with an excellent engine holding very good oil pressure, cooling is correct and the car handles and brakes well having had regular servicing and attention. This is a beautiful Tickford bodied DHC that comes with impressive history and early Alvis records, a detailed photograph record of its major rebuild, and excellent supporting records for maintenance since completion of its rebuild.
