The English brand Sunbeam launched in 1905. In the 1920s Sunbeam was part of Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq until Roots took over in 1935. Their successful sports cars continued to be available but after 1945 the focus was more on small limousines. At the end of the 1950s a rumor emerged that there would finally be another sports car. Indeed, in the summer of 1959, the Sunbeam Alpine was introduced, initially with a 4-cylinder engine. Roots wanted to follow Carroll Shelby and needed a powerful American V8. Shelby was commissioned to build a prototype and the Sunbeam Tiger was born. From 0 to 100 k/h in 9.4 seconds was considered unbelievable fast at the time and 6,496 cars of this model were built.
Our Sunbeam Tiger MK I 4.3 Cabriolet is registered in Germany. Its technology has been very important for its current owner but its paint is a bit dated. This "underdog" has a lot of driving appeal!
