The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was a luxury saloon car built from 1965 through to 1980 and was the first Rolls-Royce to be constructed using a monocoque chassis and, to date, has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. The original Shadow was three and a half inches narrower and seven inches shorter than its predecessor, the Silver Cloud, but managed to offer increased passenger and luggage space thanks to more efficient packaging. Aside from a more modern appearance and construction, the Silver Shadow introduced many new features such as disc brakes replacing drum brakes and independent rear suspension rather than the ageing live axle design of previous models. It featured a 189bhp 6.75 litre V8 engine from 1970 onwards, mated to a Turbo Hydromantic 400 transmission supplied by General Motors. The superb ride quality achieved in the Shadow was thanks to the innovative high-pressure hydraulic system with dual circuit braking and hydraulic self-levelling suspension.

Finished in an exquisite Garnet exterior paired with a Magnolia hide interior, this example represents one of the rarest and most desirable colour combinations available. The vehicle has been in the ownership of an RREC member for the past 18 years, reflecting careful stewardship and enthusiast-level care. Accompanying the car is a comprehensive history file, presented in a bespoke folder, which includes its original HR Owen order and sales invoice, along with full factory build records, offering exceptional provenance from new. In recent years, the car has benefited from extensive specialist maintenance, with expenditure exceeding £90,000. Notably, £5,000 has been invested within the last two thousand miles by renowned Rolls-Royce specialist Nigel Sandell, underscoring its outstanding mechanical condition and readiness for continued enjoyment.
