Descripción

1928 Rolls-Royce 20hp Compton Sports Saloon
Chassis number: GBM35
Registration number: YX3219
A late 20hp Chassis GBM35 which was was ordered in April 1928 by Hooper.
In 1936 the car was part exchanged at Jack Barclay for a later model. In September that year Jack Barclay sold GBM 35 to coachbuilder J. Compton of South London. The original invoice for this sale of £162.10 shillings, signed by Jack Barclay himself, is included within the cars history file. J Compton & sons of Crystal Palace, rebodied the car to the design we see today with an up-to-date four door sports saloon style and enclosed spare wheel.
The car still has the original Compton door plates, full-size metal sunroof and working semaphores. The car has been retrimmed in beautiful red leather which presents as new. Likewise the car was the recipient of a full bare metal respray in Maroon & black & presents beautifully.
One of the former registered owners of 16 years, Mr Alan Duke, now sadly deceased, purchased the car from his neighbour and world renowned guru on Rolls-Royce 20HP, John Fasal. We sold it on to the last onwer who has just traded it to us against a Derby Bentley.
Accompanying this Rolls-Royce is a selection of tools, toolbox, owners’ handbook with the original order and build sheets. The car comes with a current V5c Document.
This is a really fine car in beautiful running condition & clearly has been the recipient of large expenditure over the last few years. It is a plesure to drive with a silent engine & light steering. The coachwork is really stylinsh allowing 4 people to travel in comfort. It is in really really fione way above average condition & is not far from concours.
