2003 | Maserati 4200 Cambiocorsa
Descripción
History
The Maserati 4200 GT, also known as the Coupé, was introduced in 2001 as the successor to the 3200 GT, marking a significant evolution in both design and engineering for the Modena-based manufacturer. Styled by Pininfarina, the 4200 GT combined the sleek, aggressive lines typical of Maserati with a more modern, refined aesthetic. Its clean, muscular proportions, long hood, and distinctive front grille signaled a return to the classic Maserati GT ethos: performance, elegance, and exclusivity.
Under the bonnet, the car was powered by a 4.2-litre V8 derived from Maserati’s F1-inspired engineering, producing 390 horsepower. The engine featured a dual overhead cam design and dry-sump lubrication, delivering a sonorous and characterful exhaust note that became one of the hallmarks of the model. The 4200 GT was available with a six-speed manual gearbox or the F1-style Cambiocorsa automated manual transmission, allowing the car to cater both to purists seeking a direct driving experience and to those preferring a more modern, convenient approach.
The 4200 GT represented a step forward in Maserati’s commitment to engineering excellence, with a rigid chassis, double wishbone suspension, and advanced braking systems ensuring a blend of sharp handling and high-speed stability. The car also featured a luxurious, driver-focused interior, combining Italian craftsmanship with contemporary technology, including leather upholstery, elegant trim options, and refined controls.
Produced until 2007, the 4200 GT became a modern classic, admired for its combination of Italian styling, exhilarating performance, and everyday usability. It remains a sought-after model among enthusiasts for its engaging driving dynamics, its V8 soundtrack, and its place as a bridge between Maserati’s hand-built GT heritage and modern engineering sophistication.
Our Car
Finished in the distinctive Maserati Nettuno Blue over a Beige Cuoio interior, this example—delivered new in Greece in 2003—represents one of the most elegant color combinations ever offered by the Modena marque. As a model year produced during Maserati’s close collaboration with Ferrari, it benefits from being assembled in the Maranello factory itself. This unique period saw Maserati and Ferrari sharing not only engineering expertise but also major components such as the engine and gearbox, ensuring an exceptional level of quality and performance.
This car has enjoyed continuous and meticulous maintenance throughout its life. Recent work includes the replacement of the water radiator in 2025, the installation of new speakers, and a comprehensive service. Known issues such as sticky buttons have been resolved, while critical mechanical checks—like valve guides—have been regularly inspected and adjusted. More recently, both catalytic converters and the air-conditioning unit have been replaced, ensuring the car remains in top condition and ready to be enjoyed.
All of this makes it a proven and reliable sporty grand tourer, and one of the last true advocates of the real Maserati spirit—a rare opportunity to own a timeless Italian GT.
