At the 1958 Turin Motor Show, Vignale presented their vision of a stylish coupe based on the Lancia Appia. This was not entirely surprising, as a year earlier the coach builder introduced an open variant that had been well-received by both the press and the public.

The Coupe, like its predecessor, received positive acclaim, and thus, the sleek-lined Lancia went into production as the Appia Lusso. A nimble two-door sedan with a top speed of 140 kilometers per hour, which was quite impressive for that time. A sporty model, yet practical, offering space for four people and their luggage.

Despite being built by Vignale, the model none the less appeared in the official price list and was available through the Lancia dealer network. It did however come with a significant price tag, starting at 1,900,000 lire, approximately double the cost of a regular Lancia Appia and not far off the price tag of the very sporty Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint. The Lusso was handbuilt until 1961, with only 478 units sold. Truly a remarkable model and one of the most beloved versions of the Appia.

The Appia Lusso presented here features a beautiful color combination. Light blue metallic with a silver-grey roof is already remarkably stylish, but combined with the red interior, it creates an unforgettable look.

The body has undergone restoration in the past, resulting in an excellent condition for the car. The paintwork is beautiful, and the sparkling brightwork is especially noteworthy. This is crucial, considering that parts specifically developed for the Lusso might be challenging to obtain. No worries with this Appia: the car is complete!

The interior of the Lancia is furbished as you expect from this luxury brand: stylish, beautifully designed, and with the use of high-quality materials. The dashboard is exquisite, featuring three large meters displaying all the essential information. Beautiful numerals are applied to the black gauge scales, providing a spectacle for the eyes. The red upholstery complements this Italian car splendidly. The seats and bench are upholstered in leather with fabric, both in red and beige trim. Very elegant!

The V4 engine of the Lancia runs smoothly and sounds beautiful, as befitting a Lancia from that era. With its 1,089 cc and 60 hp, it may not be a powerhouse, but if we transport ourselves back to 1960, the Appia Lusso presents itself simply as a lovely sporty car.
