The Lamborghini 400 GT was a modified version of the first series production Lamborghini (350 GT) from 1966. Most examples were built as 2+2 with two additional spare seats in the rear and with round double headlights. According to the available Lamborghini delivery data sheet, this Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 was manufactured in July 1966 and delivered on 28 July 1966 with specifications for Switzerland. The original colour scheme was and is Grigio Argento (silver grey metallic) with a black leather interior. This classic and timeless colour scheme suits the sports car extremely well. From 1996 onwards, there is a registration in Sweden (name of owner known), at which time the vehicle was painted in the colour red. In April 2008, the 400 GT was imported to Germany. Since then, the car has been in Hamburg. The new owner (name known) then had the car comprehensively restored and technically overhauled by a specialist company for Italian sports cars in Hamburg. In 2008/2009, the floor assembly was overhauled. The shock absorbers and springs as well as the front and rear bushings were overhauled, as was the brake system with callipers and discs. The coachwork was also overhauled. In the course of this the doors were rebuilt and the door and side windows made of single-pane safety glass (ESG) were newly constructed in 2012. The doors and bonnets fit perfectly and the gaps are very even. The engine of this Lamborghini 400 GT is "Matching Numbers" and has already been overhauled by the previous owner in Sweden. Moreover, the oil cooler received a new system in 2008, the water cooler was renewed, the muffler system was repaired and the ignition system was overhauled. The gearbox was revised in 2010 with the wheel sets of 1st, 2nd and 5th gear were renewed together with the bearings, synchroniser rings and clutch. The differential was also overhauled. In the same year, the starter and alternator were renewed, as was the wiring of the interior dashboard. The interior was refurbished or renewed according to high quality criteria and presents itself today in almost mint condition. Appropriate adjustable headrests were specially made with corresponding invisible brackets in the seat back construction. Seat belts with roller system and concealed belt guide were also installed on the rear seats of the 2+2. The fitted chrome, trim and add-on parts are original and complete. They are in a very good polished state of preservation with minimal patina. The paintwork was finally renewed in silver-grey metallic after completion of the restoration/overhaul at the end of 2011 and has been retained in high quality to this day. Later, there were two more changes of ownership in Hamburg (names known). Both owners had the necessary service work and some other reconditioning carried out on the car at the above-mentioned specialist workshop. In addition, a power steering system was installed in 2016 to make the sports car easier to drive. In 2020, the tyres were also replaced, the front and rear axles were overhauled and the spoke rims were polished to a high gloss. The invoices for these works and renewals are available. This Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 impresses with its comprehensive overhaul at a high level and the various small optimisations in detail. It has also been regularly maintained since then. The stylish and at the same time powerful and sonorous Gran Turismo is the origin of Lamborghini with "challenger status" (against Ferrari). In this condition, it is ready for immediate use to experience and enjoy the myth of the brand with the fighting bull.

The Lamborghini 400 GT was introduced in 1966 as a modified version of the 350 GT. The 350 GT had its debut at the 1964 Geneva Motor Show and was the first production sports car from Automobili Lamborghini in Sant'Agata Bolgnese (near Modena and Bologna), which had been founded in 1963 by tractor manufacturer Ferruccio Lamborghini. The 400 GT was technically and visually almost identical to the 350 GT. The decisive difference was in the engine. The front-mounted V12 with four overhead camshafts and six Weber twin carburettors now had a displacement of 3,929 cc (previously 3,464 cc) and produced 320 hp (previously 280 hp). The factory stated a top speed of 260 km/h. The drive and chassis technology were otherwise the same as its predecessor with a five-speed gearbox, independent suspension on unequal-length wishbones at the front and also at the rear, and disc brakes on all wheels. Thus the car had sophisticated features that were not (yet) available from Ferrari at the time. The constructive creators of this first series production Lamborghini were the two Italian automotive masterminds Giotto Bizzarini and Gian Paolo Dallara. The design came from Franco Scaglione and the body of the 350 GT was manufactured by the famous Milano-based Carrozzeria Touring in the "Superleggera" construction method with elements made of aluminium. At the time, Touring also created the bodies for the Aston Martin DB4, DB5 and DB6 models as well as the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500, Lancia Flaminia and Maserati 3500 GT. The Gran Turismo Coupé by Lamborghini offered a comparatively spacious and very comfortable interior with a curved panoramic windscreen. Moreover, there was also the version 400 GT 2+2, which was slightly more spacious thanks to a gently raised roofline and now had a rear bench seat. The fastback-style rear roofline led to a cleverly designed boot lid. The styling of this part was very similar to an Aston Martin DB4/DB5, and the rear window was slightly shorter. The 400 GT 2+2 also had round twin headlights and was predominantly made of steel. From 1966 to 1968, 23 examples of the 400 GT and 247 cars of the 400 GT 2+2 were manufactured. The previous 350 GT was built in 120 units.
