Descripción

The original order for this Jaguar XJSC was placed on the 5th of September 1985 with Harvey Hudson & Co Ltd, a Jaguar Main Dealer of London. The long wait of two years finished for its first owner, a Hertfordshire-based Managing Director when he took delivery on the 23rd of September 1987. The XJS then stayed with its first owner for an impressive 34 years, covering 28460 miles throughout his ownership. We welcome the car into stock from the cars second owner; a classic car collector and regular customer of ours following his thoroughly enjoyable 4 years of ownership.

The theme of meticulous maintenance and enjoyable motoring runs throughout the detailed 38-year life span of this wonderful example. The first owner took the car to the main dealer for services with stamps in the book at 1010, 4853, 6240, 8879, 11698, 14032, 17408, 19752, 26497, 16792, and 27212 miles. Jaguar specialist Big Cat Garage saw to its most recent service and stamped the book at 28460 miles when the car received a thorough inspection in addition to the oil and filter change. In 2021, Big Cat Garage also replaced the brake fluid, spark plugs, fuel filter, wiper blades, gearbox oil, differential oil, coolant, fan belts, and serviced the OSF wheel bearing.

Upon arriving at the showroom, Sales Manager Andrew Welham took the car on an extended road test to check the XJSC before coming to market. The road test revealed the Jaguar performs amazingly well, the 3.6L in-line 6-cylinder engine pulls strongly through the rev range, and the 5-speed manual transmission changes through the gears smoothly. The original interior has been preserved exceptionally well showing few marks of wear and all the switchgear works smoothly. Throughout the corners and under braking the Jaguar displays all the driving characteristics of a lovely soft riding grand tourer that is to be enjoyed either with the roof assembled or in open-top format.

Externally the XJSC presents very well in its original Westminster Blue paintwork displaying how well the car has been kept. The black Targa top is in impressive order offering a beautiful contrast to the body of which have excellent panel gaps. In keeping with the Jaguar brand of luxury, the Doeskin hide is both comfortable and supportive and look stunning against the Fawn carpets and burr Walnut dashboard.

The XJS series of cars were perhaps the perfect model for Jaguar to capitalise on the GT market. The AJ6 engine was a modern, smooth, and responsive powerplant, offering a balance of performance and efficiency. A long hood and graceful lines paid homage to the Jaguars that came before it while remaining sophisticated and equally iconic. Space comes in abundance both throughout the cabin and in the boot, holding luggage and personal items is no trouble for the XJS making it ideal for weekends away.

There is no doubt this XJSC Manual has incredible provenance with just two owners, excellent history and of course the excellent low mileage. This is a true collector's car, but also idea for regular use, touring and classic car events.
