An exceptional example and the Silverstone that achieved the highest price at auction
Chassis E66 was first registered on the 12th of July 1950 as confirmed by the original logbook which is part of the cars dedicated history file. The car's first owner was Mr Frederick Gordan Sims of Nottingham and it's registration LRR 267 it still retains today. It remained with Mr Sims until around 1955 when it was sold to noted racing driver Joseph Cecil Winby who campaigned the Healey for 2 years around the UK including the Goodwood 9-hour race. Joseph Cecil Winby parted with the car and it was registered to Mr Ronald Hugh Critchlow of Coventry who later sold the car to Mr John Grosvenor Bloore of Wimbledon, London. In 2012 the car was purchased by Russell James after being found in a garage untouched for 30 years, the car was sent to Hennessy Motorsport for a nut and bolt restoration. It was repainted an attractive colour of Aston Martin Metallic Grey and the engine and gearbox were removed and disassembled. The engine was rebuilt to race-spec with higher compression ratio and re-bored block to 110bhp, the gearbox, suspension, brakes and rear axle were rebuilt and also a new interior was made and fitted.
In 2014 E66 set a record price for the Silverstone model when it sold for £212,750 which is still the highest price achieved for any Silverstone at auction, attesting to the quality of the car and the detailed history file and restoration. Offered today chassis E66 is presented in stunning condition having covered little mileage since its remarkable restoration.
