Descripción

There were very few family cars produced in Italy in the 60s, even fewer equipped with a powerful 6-cylinder. The Fiat 2300 Familiare represents a unique example: it paved the way for those cars intended for leisure, work and family which only 30 years later would become normal along our streets.

This example, apparently one of the 4 still circulating in Italy, was purchased in 1965, by a lady from Milan and remained there for twelve years before being withdrawn in 1977 by the historic Fiat dealership Fratelli Brunero of Ciriè (TO), probably used as a company car or dedicated to fast assistance or trucks (the company will later become a partner of FCA). It was probably in this long period of over 30 years that the car underwent a color change from the original and bright Peacock blue to a more sober medium grey.

After a few transfers between dealers and private collectors between 2010 and 2019, the car came into our hands from the previous owner who had taken care of the mechanics but not the bodywork.

These are the main works carried out by the previous owner: replacement of differential and gearbox oil, greasing of the transmission shaft, replacement of the muffler terminal, replacement of the tank float, replacement of brake oil with cleaning of the tanks, replacement of the oil pressure hose, arrangement of the wiring and interior and ceiling lights external, wiper motor overhaul, oil, filter and spark plug service, contact and ignition adjustment, needle valve and starter linkage replacement.

Subsequently, the car was completely repaired in the underside which had rust spots, some areas of the bodywork were touched up, the roof was repainted, the bumpers and trunk hinges were chromed, the odometer mechanism was fixed, the tires were replaced, the wood of the trunk was restored and the interior was refreshed.

The 105 horsepower allow the large family car to move with absolute ease, being able to count on the very comfortable 4-speed gearbox at the steering wheel and the servo assisted disc brakes on all wheels. It is useless to ask about the capacity of the trunk, which is more than generous in size, ideal for accommodating the luggage of the 6 people on board (the front bench is approved for three). Engineer Giacosa's 6-cylinder in-line also lends itself to modifications with two or even three carburettors, such as on the sporty 2300S Abarth coupé which also featured the famous double outlet exhaust, thanks to which it could be exceeded at speeds of 200km/h!

The car comes with the original owner's manual, italian "Libretto" and old plates; it is visible by appointment in Bologna. More details on www.gulfblue.it
