2005 | Ferrari F 430 Spider

The Ferrari F430 was unveiled at the 2004 Paris Motor Show. The new car was created by Pininfarina in collaboration with Ferrari’s Head of Design Frank Stephenson. The F430’s nose, characterised by two distinctive air intakes, draws inspiration from the Ferrari 156 F1 that Phil Hill drove for his 1961 F1 World Championship title. The Ferrari Enzo was the inspiration for much of the rear styling of the new F430, and Ferrari’s meticulous aerodynamic detailing is reflected in the design of the nodular incorporated into the engine cover and the new rear diffuser integrated into the bumper, which boasts race-derived dimensions.

The F430 is powered by a new 90 degree V8 featuring Ferrari’s traditionally uncompromising design approach with a flat-plane crank. The improvement over the 360 Modena in terms of performance, weight and reduction of overall dimensions is the result of applying Ferrari’s wealth of F1 experience to its road cars. Despite a 20% increase in engine displacement the engine weight has grown minimally by just 4kg, while performance is considerably improved across the board. The F430 has a power output of 483 bhp which can accelerate the car from 0-60 mph in just 4.0 seconds and onto a top speed of 196 mph.
