Subaru Impreza GT Turbo Full History. Very original!
A flawlessly beautiful Dutch Subaru Impreza GT Turbo, complete with the original stamped service booklets, odometer report, maintenance invoices and MOT reports. It has spent its entire life in the hands of die-hard Subaru enthusiasts, so it has been meticulously looked after and pampered. Extensively documented and 100% serviced by Subaru dealers and specialists using original parts. Unmodified and largely original. Where do you find that these days?
The Subaru was delivered new in the colour “Black Mica 47A” and the car still retains some of its original paintwork. It has no history of damage and the well-known issues with the rear mudguards have been professionally addressed. The last owner wanted to take the GT to an even higher standard and recently had the front end repainted due to stone chips. The subframe has been powder-coated, and everything under the bonnet has been meticulously maintained. So the engine bay isn’t just attractive – it’s spotless too! The 17-inch STI alloy wheels are undamaged and fitted with the correct Bridgestone Potenza tyres. The original GT Turbo alloy wheels are included, complete with centre caps!
In any case, Subaru’s build quality was absolutely top-notch. And distinctive too – just look at the tightly fitted, frameless windows in all the doors, which still work perfectly and fit beautifully even after 28 years. The doors close perfectly and you won’t hear a single creak or rattle.
The interior is completely original and a real time capsule. The original, super-sleek sports seats are remarkably well-preserved and still offer a comfortable ride. There are only minimal signs of wear, which is a huge compliment. Everything is clean and smoke-free. The original leather Nardi steering wheel is timelessly beautiful. That was a real treat back in the day: no fuss, no buttons, simply made for steering – and with Italian flair, no less. The door panels and dashboard are also remarkably pristine and undamaged. There is no radio fitted, and an original Subaru cover plate is now in place.
The most beautiful sound, of course, comes from the iconic boxer engine. This rock-solid and incredibly reliable engine has not only secured countless victories in international rallying, but has also given sales a boost. In 1995, this GT Turbo made a huge splash: 211 pk, AWD, 1210 kg and f49.995.- (guilders!). An icon was born. Not the most exciting looks, but it did go from 0 to 100 in 6.6 seconds. This Impreza is the facelift version with 218 pk and 290 Nm. Due to the aluminium pistons, the boxer engine runs a bit rough after a cold start, but that’s quite common with a sporty boxer engine. The pistons are designed for a turbocharged engine operating at high temperatures. The car has had all its services carried out on time and has been looked after with the correct oil and gentle running-in. The gearbox shifts as it should, and both the differential and the five-speed gearbox are nice and quiet. For sale by a private owner on consignment.
