Chassis number: 7MW
Registration number: VV2142
First time to market in decades; This Phantom 2 Continental has been in the current ownership for a very very long time sharing garage space with an assortment of Pre War Silver ghosts & a coach built Bentley amongst other cars.
The car is in simply lovely condition thoughout with a rebuilt engine that purrs into life & gives the car a surprising turn of performance. A modern oil filter is fitted for ease of maintenance. Paintwork in excellent order is a fetching two tone green colour scheme with green hides & carpets to the inside. The dash board is of finely polished burr walnut extending to the door tops also. Andre Hydro telecontrol shock absorbers are fitted & are adjustable by the driver from within the cockpit.
The car when new was sent to the Bridge St, Northampton premises of Arthur Mulliner who executed the beautiful body we find on the car today. Not as close coupled as some continentals, the car has ample head room inside & decent space for rear passengers. The car was specified from new with a full set of bonnet louvres set at 11 degrees & extending onto the scuttle. A large working sunroof is fitted allowing for semi-alfresco motoring. To the rear is a fold out luggage rack augmenting the useful & commodious boot space which may be accessed wither from the rear or the top via two separate hatches.
The car is fetured in the Raymond Gentile book on the Continental Phantoms on page 188. It has also featured in assorted Rolls Royce club magazines. An variety of bills come with the car detailing extensive mechanical & electrical works undertaken to the car. An overdrive unit has also been installed for relaxed high speed motoring.
On the road the car perfoms exactly as a Continental ought with smooth silent power & seamless gear changes. The car runs well in modern trafic with 70 MPH being easily attainable. To sum up, this is an impeccably maintained Phantom 2 Continental ready for immediate extended use.
