This SL is special: this SL is equipped with a manual gearbox, has a sympathetic combination of the colors and was originally delivered in Europe, Germany. This R107 is in excellent condition and, as far as we know, has only had 2 owners. The car is damage-free, it has never been welded and is mostly in the first paint. The low mileage cannot be fully guaranteed, but the mileage is very plausible, because of the maintenance booklet. Of course the condition of the car is excellent. The Mercedes-Benz has a soft top and hard top and has a Spanish registration.
The Mercedes-Benz W107 series (R107 for the roadster and C107 for the coupé) was produced from 1971 to 1989. In those years, nearly 237,000 were made.
The production started with the 350 SL in 1971. These cars were equipped with a 3.5 liter V8 engine with electronic fuel injection and a four-speed manual transmission. A three course automatic was optional. The engine delivered 200 hp and 286 Nm (4000 rpm) of torque.
In 1973 followed the 450 SL (C) with 225 hp (5000 rpm) and 378 Nm (3000 rpm). When the oil crisis broke out in 1973, Mercedes decided to introduce a more economical model. The 280 SL (C) had a six-cylinder in-line engine with 185 hp and 238 Nm (4500 rmp). In 1980 the 500 SL (C) was launched, with a 5.0 liter and a four course automatic transmission. In the same year, the 350 was replaced by the 380 SL (C). It was equipped with a 3.8 liter alloy engine with 218 hp (5500 rmp) and 305 Nm (4000 rmp). After 1981 no more SLC models were produced.
The 280 SL model was built specifically for the 1973 oil crisis. The more economical (1 in 8.5) six-cylinder M110 engine produced 185 hp at 5000 rpm and had a torque of 238 Nm at 4500 rpm.
