2008 Maserati Quattroporte Executive GT
Maserati are considered the Italian Gentleman's motorcars and these Quattroporte's are truly the perfect example of this expression
Sensational looking, the loviest of colour combinations with, as the Executive GT version, an awesome specification that's topped off with the sonorous sound track of Ferrari's 4.2litre V8 and the most delicious exhaust note too - what's not to like!!
So true are these statements that our Managing Director has snaffled her away and is using her on a daily basis with trips to Cornwall on at least 3 occasions where the trip computer has indicated over 31mpg on one trip and 28mpg on the others
Well that was a happy surprise for sure
Anyhow we first purchased this beauty from a neighbour and friend who was, as evidenced by the stickers on the windscreen, the President of the World Polo Federation and also the Chairman of Ham Polo Club - many a Royal have sat in those comfortable seats
His cars as always immaculate, as you can see from the photographs - he upgraded her for a new model QP and also a Grand Turismo drop head as well and has been a Maserati owner for many years starting with first generation QP as well as many other interesting car ( he still regrets selling his Citroen SM )
Then we sold her to a long term friend who kept her for 1 year, and then moved back into Europe (the change in Government was the culprit) so we bought her 'back home' again
A further few months with our MD using her everyday (who wouldn't.....) and then she went to another long term customer and friend as well
He too is now moving to the EU, so here we are enjoying her again
The Executive GT is a rare version and gives the owner and passengers many features not seen in the S or the normal QP
Alcantara headlining / wooden steering wheel / heated, massage, air conditioned & body supported seats (front & back as well), perforated leather / picnic tables / new lambs wool over mats and rear seat cushions, rear courtesy blinds (rear screen is button operated) / CD player / trip computer / cruise control / telephone trimmed into the armrest / rear air conditioning controls / electric rear seats / rear quarter badges / mesch grill / plus the usual modern day things, like automatic lights & wipers / parking sensors etc
The power train is the joy of the car though, for all of the mod-cons the real highlight is the 4.2 litre V8 derived from the Ferrari block which pushes out 400bhp at 7.000rpm and 339ft/lbs at 4.250rpm
This gives you excellent cruising ability with 80mph at only 2.000rpm and if you decide, and are legally allowed, a top speed of 168mph whilst the normal traffic light sprint gives you 60mph in only 5.1 seconds
Happily this is one of the versions with the ZF 6 speed automatic gearbox, so the earlier versions issues with clutches being burnt out are a thing of the past and gear changes are completely seemless
Coming with two sets of keys, the full book pack in the original leather wallet, complete service history as well as the original Maserati brochure, she is missing nothing
We have owned 3 of these cars and each has put a huge smile on our faces and such amazing value for money too
