1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II 2+2 Coupe
Launched at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type was nothing short of a revelation. With its heady blend of supercar performance, breathtaking styling and low price tag, the newcomer left rivals reeling and customers clamouring. Early sportscar racing success at the hands of Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori amongst others helped cement its reputation. Built as a monocoque with a front sub-frame to cradle the engine, the model's combination of all-round independent suspension, rack and pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes gave it excellent road holding and handling capabilities. The Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 was designed to be a more practical version of the legendary E-Type, with a longer wheelbase and additional interior space. It was produced from 1966 to 1967, and it featured a 4.2 litre inline-six engine that produced 265bhp. One of the most notable features of the Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 is its sleek and timeless design. The car has a long, flowing hood and a low-slung profile that gives it a sense of speed and power.
This 1970 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 Coupe bares the registration OBV 616H and is presented in white coachwork with a contrasting dark red interior and is fitted with automatic transmission. Originally delivered to the United States, the car was subsequently brought to the UK in 1994 and has since been converted from left hand drive to right hand drive configuration. The E-Type generally presents in good condition, with the white paintwork showing well and the chrome and brightwork in good order. The wheels are also in good condition, complementing the car's classic appearance. There are some minor age-related blemishes to the paintwork, consistent with the cars age. Inside, the dark red interior provides an attractive contrast to the exterior and retains the character expected of this iconic British sportscar. The odometer reading currently shows 20,491 miles although is not warranted. A desirable Series II E-Type in the practical 2+2 Coupe configuration, this example combines its striking colour combination with automatic transmission and right hand drive conversion, making it an appealing proposition for both collectors and enthusiasts alike.
