1975 | BMW 3,0 L

The BMW E3 model was produced between 1968 and 1977 in the following configurations: 2500, 2800 L, 3.0 S, 3.0 L, and 3.0 Si.

There was also a 3.3L version. The BMW 3.0 L had twin Solex carburetors, producing 180 hp. The "L" stands for "long," as it was 10 cm longer than the standard version. The E3 line is also referred to as the “New Six.”

The feeling of driving the E3 is very similar to driving an E9, but with a lot more space in the back for kids or grandparents. And the best part? The price of an E3 is about a third of an E9 in the same condition.

**Exterior: **The car is finished in classic BMW Polaris (silver) with a dark blue cloth interior. It was repainted once in the late nineties and still looks very good today, showing only minimal wear. Some minor rust bubbles can be found, but overall it remains in very good original condition. The chrome is excellent, and the beautiful original hubcaps, which are now hard to come by, are still present.

It was recently fitted with a nice set of Michelin XWX tires, adding a bit of extra performance while also giving the right look for a '70s saloon of this caliber.

As you can see, the BMW is fitted with a tow bar. For that reason, it also has air suspension in the rear, in case you’re towing a heavy camper or something similar. The tow bar can easily be removed if not needed. All glass and the delicate trim around the doors are in perfect condition and have never been removed from the car.

Interior: Personally, I love a car with a cloth interior, especially these old velour interiors from BMW. They have a very luxurious feel to me, and in this car, it's all original and still in perfect condition.

The BMW 3.0 L was built for a full-grown driver, and the seating position is very comfortable no matter your size. According to my wife, the cockpit is boring, while I find it clean, simple, and elegant. Even on rather hot summer days, the airflow is enough to keep things cool. All instruments, levers, and switches are in perfect working order, and the BMW has recently passed technical inspection here in Sweden.

The trunk area is also in very good original condition, complete with the original jack and spare wheel. The original toolbox is almost complete. A working original Blaupunkt radio, manual sunroof, and electric mirrors are some of the extra equipment.

**Engine and Mechanics: **To ensure the BMW 3.0 L from 1975 is in perfect running order, a major service was carried out on 2025-07-01. The following work was done:

• Oil and oil filter replaced
• New spark plugs and ignition cables
• New points and condenser
• Front brake discs, pads, and hoses replaced
• Some bushings and joints in the front end replaced
• Carburetors rebuilt
• Wheel alignment performed
• Fuel tank cleaned, with new filters and hoses fitted
• A stainless steel exhaust was fitted last year

Today, the car drives excellently and is very dependable.

**History: **The BMW 3.0 L was sold new in Sweden, and the first owner received the car in June 1976, although the model year is 1975. It changed hands in 1978, and that second owner kept the car until 2001. The next owner had it for 18 years. After that, it passed through a few dealers before it came to us.

It comes with a driving journal in which the previous owners recorded every kilometer driven and every fuel stop. The total mileage today is no more than 153,000 km from new. The car also includes the original owner’s manual and a binder of collected receipts for work that has been done.
