Early Bentley Turbo R's fitted with the electronic fuel injection and ABS and rather appealing to us
They fit in nicely with the earlier carburettor versions which suffer from fuel vaporisation and the latter cars from 1990 model year onwards with increased ECU for various systems
Subtle alloy wheels which carry super enormous tyres, (255 / 65 R 15) specially developed by Avon for the huge performance the Turbo R achieved whilst carrying a serious amount of weight as well, so that unless you know, or saw the badge, you could think it was a normal Bentley Mulsanne S or Eight
Understated is the true mode of these Turbo R's
Zero to sixty miles an hour is a whisker over 6 seconds and over 140mph as your top speed, these cars were super at home on the autobahn or in the streets of Paris, Now York or London
In period there was a hefty waiting list when they first arrived for 1987 model year, and by 1990 that list extended to over 3 years!!
This particular example is supreme, and hasn't been updated with bigger wheels or exhausts, happily
She does have the updated twin headlamps, which we prefer plus the 1992 model high level stop lamp
From the factory she has mud flaps, rear quarter badges her original lambswool over rugs still in almost unused condition
Her veneers are similarly looking remarkable, as is the hide interior, under carpets, engine bay, boot area and paintwork
When we first saw her, it was a motorcar we just had to buy
The previous owner, a salesman for a Bentley dealership in the eighties, so he would know a good Bentley when he saw one, kept her for 6 years and always had her serviced with a renowned specialist close to his home
In fact the service history is complete and full - all original books are included in the large history folder, including the service booklet
Both large and small tools are included too
There is also a brochure from period, which of course, shows the new Turbo R finished in the same colours as this example as well
She was serviced in June this year, although we have checked her over and fitted a new air conditioning compressor and expansion valve
We have travelled 1.500 miles in the last month, including a trip to Scotland, and not a hitch was noticed - whilst other road users were more than surprised when we whisked past so quickly !!!
A very rare opportunity and one Bentley, of which, we are very happy to be the custodians
NB
Cherished number shown on a few photo's will be retained upon sale
Speedometer was changed by Bentley at 21.788 miles - hence true mileage is 36.750 (this may increase as the car is used, albeit sparingly)
