We are very proud to present this perfect Austin-Healey historic racing car. A car built with attention to the smallest detail, and undoubtedly one of the very best Austin-Healey racers in the world.
This example was built by Sideways Engineering in Sweden, one of the top companies when it comes to historic racing cars. Many of the cars they have built are real winners, and the fit and finish is truly of the highest standard. All parts are very solid and cleverly engineered, resulting in an absolute top-notch car. The Austin-Healey is built on a new chassis and inner body, and fitted with a full aluminium outer body and lightweight hardtop. It has a fully welded rollcage to FIA specifications. The engine is a real masterpiece with steel crank, rods and flywheel. The full-race cylinder head is made of aluminium, and the engine has a compression ratio of 12,3:1. Inside the engine only the best parts : race pistons, Sideways Engineering Race 1 camshaft (especially developed for endurance), Sideways Engineering inlet manifolds with triple Weber 45 DCOE controlled by the specially developed Sideways Engineering balance bar pedal box linkage. This incredibly healthy engine produces 285bhp at 6500rpm, which is quite something for an Austin-Healey ! The straigh-cut gearbox has a specially developed racing overdrive, and the rear axle has upgraded half shafts with LSD and a 4,3:1 final drive. The brakes are discs all around and have stainless steel braided brake lines. The steering is high ratio with 2,5 turns lock to lock. As you can see, this is a pure racecar made to win races in the right hands.
It comes with a brand new FIA HTP for Period F (1962-1965) and valid until 31.12.2036, and there is also a road registration with the car. Because this Austin-Healey is so well built, it was 60 kg below the homologated weight. This meant that extra weight had to be added, which was done on the passenger side allowing for perfect weight distribution. An additional advantage is that a second seat can be added without changing the total weight, making this Austin-Healey ideal for road events such as Tour Auto.
This car was built without any cost constraints and is now being offered for a fraction of its construction cost. This is truly a unique opportunity for someone looking for the perfect historic racing car and a potential contender to win events such as Tour Auto or Targa Florio.
