Beschreibung
Launched in October 1965 at the London Motor Show, the Aston Martin DB6 was the natural evolution of the DB4 and DB5. This new model featured a higher roofline and longer wheelbase—3¾” longer than the DB5—to provide greater head and leg room. Other notable design features included the distinctive Kamm tail, split front and rear bumpers, and front quarterlights, giving the DB6 its unmistakable silhouette.
Supplied new on 7th June 1967 by H.R. Owen, this example was originally finished in Oystershell with Red leather trim and fitted with the popular automatic transmission. Purchased by The Onyx Property Investment Co. Ltd and used by Mr. Stuart Twentyman Turnbull, who later acquired the car personally in 1981, retaining ownership until 1986. During this period, servicing and maintenance were entrusted to A.E. Pull of Banstead, Surrey, with the vehicle covering approximately 30,000 miles in its first three years.
In 1977, Aston Martin Works fitted a service replacement engine at 78,528 miles, along with completing a 10,000-mile service and a full overhaul of the suspension and braking systems. Documentation within the extensive history file confirms continued servicing by Aston Martin Works until at least 1981, at 95,097 miles.
In June 1986, the car was purchased by Mr. James Monroe, who retained ownership until March 2017, when it passed to the current owner. At that time, the vehicle had been partially dismantled, and Aston Engineering were commissioned to carry out a comprehensive body-off restoration.
During the restoration, the car was repainted in Meteorite Silver and retrimmed in Kestrel Tan leather with Grey Wilton carpets. Upgrades included a 4.7-litre engine, handling kit, power steering, and the fitment of an original ZF manual gearbox.
Having covered just over 1,000 miles since completion in 2021, this DB6 is presented in outstanding condition and is accompanied by a fully documented restoration book.
A superbly restored example of the iconic DB6, combining period authenticity with carefully considered performance upgrades. A beautifully finished car, ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next custodian.
