1961 | Wolseley 6/99

I have owned my 6/99 for almost 6 years bought in Sept 2018. Drives superbly with the fantastic overdrive gearbox, with overdrive operating on 2nd & 3rd gear. Third gear being top. Kickdown operating beautifully to give you the extra power you need climbing hills. The colour of the body is Yukon Grey with a gorgeous blood red leather interior which enhances the overall effect. The leather is completely original with no tears/rips anywhere as you will see from the photos. So, mechanically the big Wolseley drives just as it should with a very impressive oil pressure, which is around 65psi & a tickover reading of 50 psi which is excellent for these big Farinas. The mileage of under 49,000 miles is absolutely genuine and confirmed by history I have. It does drive like a very much younger car from another decade. I've just had some work done underneath the car and all undersealed to give it good rain & salt protection and also adjustments to the overdrive which did have a sticking Governor. Also just had new MOT which expires 31.03.2025. All sorted now and ready for show time or classic car runs. Over the years we've had it, we have done many trips to the far North of Scotland & the North of England doing charity runs mainly for the RNLI. This big Wolseley has never failed to start in all those years and gives a very creditable 26-28 MPG on a steady 50-60 mph cruise in overdrive, dropping to around 22 for town driving due to having the carbs expertly tuned & balanced.

I am very, very reluctant to sell my 6/99 but we are embarking on a project which needs funding. I will however buy one of these big Farinas again in the future. Very under -estimated machines and get oodles of attention every time out.

Ps for those who are not in the know, the engine in these cars is the same engine used in the Austin Healey 3000 sports car, so you can imagine it makes for a great cruising thing in this big saloon. Also very much loved by the Metropolitan police from 1959-1968, it's production run.
